For challenge Friday we built mazes out of Legos. The goal was to get a marble to the end by tilting the maze. My team was very creative and collaborated very well. I had fun doing this because I liked decorating and adding cool aspects in our maze. If I did this again I would make our maze a little more complex by adding more dead ends and more routes you could take. Overall I think my team did very well on this challenge!
I created a catapult out of popsicle sticks, clothes pins, and rubber bands with my partner Kenaz. We collaborated by talking about different strategies we could use and we used critical thinking and creativity to help us make our catapult shoot the penny into the target. The biggest challenge we faced was when we shot the penny into the target from the farthest distance but shortly after that another group hit the target from farther away. We could't get our penny back into the target after that. If I could change something about my catapult I would make it more durable and more precise. I would give me and my partner an A on this project because we worked really hard and never stopped trying to make it in the target. We worked well together and generated good ideas.Yesterday, February 8, my family and I went to the pet parade downtown for Mardi Gras. We got to see lots of different kinds of dogs. My favorite was the bulldogs. A lot of them were really fat and their faces were adorable! The dogs were dressed up in costumes and my favorite was a poodle spray painted to look like a dalmatian. The owner was dressed up as Cruella Deville. The weather was so nice. It was a lot of fun to just hang out with my family and spend the first nice day in a long time outside. I would defiantly go again next year!
To produce our tower we had to brainstorm ideas for a tower. We than chose the best design. Our tower had to be freestanding and had to be vertical. We met our standards because we had 139 vertical cheerios. The tower that we made looked a little bit like other teams. If I could change one thing I would make better supports so it could freestand longer. Our team worked really good together and we were good at problem solving. We also were good about sharing the left over cheerios and raw noodles:). To produce our TERRIFIC gummy bear tower we had to use a lot of geometric shapes. We needed to improve by actually making a tower that works. Also thinking of more clear ideas. This piece reveals that I'm not a very skilled builder. If I was a teacher I would probably make a comment about the fact that the tower was not completed. When working through challange Friday chalanges, it would help to have more time. I took a personality test. After we discovered who we are, we made glogs about it. My results were ENFP. (I explained what that means in my glog.) Check it out to learn more about me.
We created a maze made out of legos. My team was pretty happy with our ending product because in the begining, we had a hard time agreeing. So once we got it figured out, we were really happy. The challenges that we faced were that we had planned to use the big square lego domain. Instead we had to use too little ones that made up a big rectangle. If I was to change anything about our maze I would put more interesting things around the border. Some necessary skills that I had to use when working with my group was cooperation and problem solving. A lot of times we each wanted to do different things and it was hard to agree.
Technology helps during this project because it looks a lot more professional. It does hurt sometimes because as we all know, computors don't always run perfectly. If the internet is down, then it's hard to get anything done when it is constantly deleting it. There are a lot of fun things that I have discovered on Pixton. One is that you can make you own characters. It is also really For our 4th quarter project, we made infographics. We could chose any topic and layout that we wanted. I chose to do mine on the top boy and girl names of each year starting from 1995 to 2012. I really like this project because it was like an online poster.
If I could change something the next time I do this project, I would make sure that all my colors are they way they look on the computer. Some looked duller or even a totally different color! It still turned out well, and i'm really proud of mine. :) Come and see my infographic! |
